Add and edit activities in the stage area (field view)

How to add and edit activities in Visual Planner on a mobile or tablet device

Overview 

In the mobile view on tablets and phones — available in both daily view and plan view — there’s a collapsible Stage Area bar at the bottom that helps save crucial screen space. Users can expand it when needed to manage upcoming tasks without cluttering the planning view. 

Add activity to the Stage Area 

To queue an activity in the Stage Area: 

  1. Tap the Add stage activity button located just below the Stage Area bar — this opens the add activity full-screen dialog.

  2. Fill in the fields provided: 
    • Activity name (required) 
    • Details (optional) 
    • Schedule activity ID (optional) 
    • Trade (required) 
      • If you have one assigned trade, it’s preselected. 
      • With multiple assigned trades, only those appear in the drop-down menu. 
      • Admins can select from all trades. 
    • Number of days (1–99; default is 1) 
    • Crew size (1–99; default is 2) 
    • Toggle: Add activity from end date 
    3.  Tap save to add it into the Stage Area (or cancel to discard).

Edit activity in the Stage Area 

To modify a staged activity: 

  1. Double-tap the activity within the Stage Area.
  2. The same full-screen dialog will appear, allowing you to modify: 
    • Activity name 
    • Details 
    • Schedule activity ID 
    • Trade (following the same logic as above) 
    • Number of days 
    • Crew size 
    • End date toggle 
     3.  Tap save to apply changes or cancel to discard. 

 

Quick tip: The Stage Area streamlines onboard task creation, enabling team members to prepare activities on-site before they enter weekly planning sessions. These activities will appear in the plan Stage Area in the plan.
