Phase to week view
Shifting between phase planning and weekly planning in Nialli™ Visual Planner
What is phase to week?
The Phase to week view is a powerful bridge between phase pull planning and weekly planning execution. Teams can use it to translate high-level activities into detailed daily work in an efficient and coordinated manner.
This view displays both the phase pull plan and the weekly planning board in a horizontal split screen, making it easy to drag activities and milestones directly into the execution plan.
Use this feature to:
- Break down phase-level tasks into daily activities.
- Coordinate start dates, durations and crews.
- Keep field teams aligned with the overall phase strategy.
- Have conversations about execution commitments and handoffs.
Note: Phase pull activities that have constraints should not be moved to the weekly plan until the issue has been resolved and the work can be committed to and completed. Dependencies that are created in the phase pull are not copied to the weekly plan.
Access the phase to week view
To begin converting your phase plan into weekly activities:
- In the menu on the left, click Phase to week.
- The interface will open in a split-screen layout, showing:
- The phase pull view on the top.
- The weekly planning view on the bottom.
Note: You can scroll and interact with each timeline independently, allowing flexible navigation and planning.
Create daily tags from phase activities
To convert a phase pull activity into daily work:
- Drag a tag from the phase pull view to the appropriate lane and date in the weekly view.
- The Add activity to [lane name] dialog will open. It includes:
- Activity name — pre-filled
- Schedule ID — pre-filled
- Trade — mandatory
- Days — duration of the activity (pre-filled)
- Crew size — pre-filled
- Add activity from — choose whether to align from start or end date
- Review or edit the information.
- Click Save to create the tags or Cancel to discard.
Note: The number of tags created will match the Days field. You can split the work into multiple activities by repeating the process or adjusting durations.
Note: A single phase pull tag can be used to create multiple distinct sets of daily tags, as needed, for progressive planning.
Note: When a phase pull activity is selected, all the tags that have been created to form it in the weekly view will be highlighted, making it easy to see that the activity has been translated to daily tags.
Move milestones from phase pull to weekly view
You can also move milestones from the phase pull view to the weekly view:
- Drag a milestone from the phase pull view into a specific lane and date cell in the weekly view. This creates a copy of the milestone in the weekly plan.
Note: You can drag the same milestone multiple times into as many lanes as needed for visibility across trades.
Note: When a milestone is selected in the phase pull view, all linked milestones in the weekly view are automatically highlighted for visibility. The milestones will not show an alert if they are on different days.
Note: Activities cannot be created in the phase pull section in the phase to week view — but you can add daily activities in the weekly view. This is helpful when splitting a phase activity or planning work.
