Common questions on the migration process
Answers for customers transitioning from Windows to web
Login & Credentials
Can I use my old login credentials?
Yes, but the first time you log in to the new platform, you will need to create a new account. You must use the same email that you used on the previous system to ensure you will have the same access permissions as before. If your organization uses SSO, you’ll log in using your enterprise identity provider when this has been set up.
I cannot login to the New Planner after the migration.
You will need to create a new user account in the New Planner. Here is how. Note that you must use the same email address to create the new account or you may not be able to log in. If you are using the same information, but still unable to log in, please contact support@nialli.com.
What happens if someone tries to log in to the old Visual Planner after the migration?
If a user tries to log in, they will be informed that their subscription has been migrated, and they will be provided a link to the new subscription and plans. If they have not yet created an account, they will need to create one before they are able to access the plans on the new system.
Will my permissions and access be preserved?
Yes. As long as you sign in using the same email address, you’ll retain access to all your plans and permissions after signing up.
Data & Plans After Migration
What will be migrated?
All plan information will be transitioned, including settings, trades, users (and permissions), activities and all historical data in the plan.
What data is transferred during the migration?
All the existing online plans in your subscription will be securely migrated to the new system, including all settings and data from the current plans. If you wish to migrate any local plans, these will need to be converted to online plans before the migration. We will discuss this with you to ensure we have identified all plans that need to be migrated.
What happens to my current plans?
When a plan is migrated, you can no longer access it on the existing application. Follow the sign-up instructions to access your plans on the New Planner.
What if I forget to move one of my local plans and I want to access it after the migration?
You will not be able to access a local plan from your Windows subscription after migration. It is possible to move a local plan from the Windows platform to the new platform if you have room in your subscription for this plan. Contact support@nialli.com for assistance if you need a local plan in your new subscription.
What will happen to my old plans after the migration?
Access will be blocked to the plans after they are migrated. You will only have access to the plans that you have chosen to be migrated to the new Visual Planner.
What will happen to my local plans after the migration?
Local plans will not be migrated. We recommend moving your local plans into your existing subscription (make it online) if you want to retain access to them after the migration. You may also export the data to Excel so you are able to view it using Power BI or other analytics applications.
What will happen to the data from the plans that are not migrated?
For plans you opt not to migrate (e.g. completed projects, local plans), we recommend exporting the plan data to a spreadsheet for future reference. You will not have access to these plans after the migration.
Technology & New Application
Do I need to install anything?
No installation is required. The new Visual Planner runs entirely in your browser.
What browsers are supported?
We recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience. It is also compatible with Microsoft Edge and MacOS Chrome. View a list of supported browsers.
My organization’s IT administrator needs to test the new application before you can migrate us there.
As part of our initial migration planning, we will discuss any IT requirements and will work with you to ensure we have met any requirements for your organization to proceed with the migration.
What happens to users that are on the current mobile app?
They will receive a message that their subscription and plans have been moved to the new web platform, and they will be directed to create an account and sign in to the new mobile view of their plans.
What is the difference between the old and the new application?
The major difference is that while the old application is Windows-based and requires installation to your PC, the new Planner is web-based and can be accessed on any laptop or desktop through your Chrome browser. While the overall experience of the application has been improved, the features and tools you are used to using remain intuitive and easy to use so you will be able to get up and running quickly.
